Car Takes Out Pole On Route 83 In Vernon

VERNON, CT — A busy section of Route 83 was closed on Thursday afternoon after a vehicle took out a pole, which then took down some wires, police said.

The crash took place at about 2:30 p.m. as several schools were being dismissed.

Route 83 was closed between Dart Hill Road and a spot just shy of Merline Road as crews worked to repair the pole, police said.

Traffic heading west was being diverted up Center Road to Route 30.

The crash involved one minor injury, police said.
