Car Winds Up In Vernon Yard, Driver Charged: Cops

A car wound up in the yard of a Vernon home and its driver wound up with a drunken driving charge, police said.

VERNON, CT — A car wound up in the yard of a Vernon home and its driver wound up with a drunken driving charge, police said.

The crash took place at 11:30 p.m. on Monday, according to a report released Wednesday. Police were alerted to an erratically operated vehicle after it ran a red light at Dobson Road and Hartford Turnpike, according to a report.

The car then drove across the front yard of 141 Washington St., according to a report.

Police lacated the vehicle in the yard with the engine running and the driver, 64-year-old Brian Wilkie, of Vernon, failed a series of sobriety tests and was charged with driving under the influence, according to a report. Breath tests resulted in blood alcohol levels of .1266 and .1178, over the state limit of .08, according to a report.
