Child Calls 911 on Foul-Mouthed Man at Vernon Apartment Complex: Police

The man grabbed the phone from the child, but the call still went through, police said.

VERNON, CT — A child inside a Vernon apartment called 911 on a man who was in the midst of a drawn-out swear word-laced tirade over the weekend, a police report indicates.

The altercation took place at 8:43 p.m. on Saturday at 17 Regan St., according to an arrest report.

After the child called 911, officers arrived to find 39-year-old William Jones yelling at his mother, according to an arrest report. He was told to quiet town, but continued to swear at his mother in front of her grandchildren, according to an arrest report.

Jones is accused of grabbing the phone as one of the children was calling 911, cutting the child's hand in the process, according to an arrest report.

Jones was held over the weekend on a $10,000 bond for risk of injury to a child, interfering with an emergency call and second-degree breach of peace and was to appear before a judge Monday, police said.
