Columbus Day Trash Changes Posted In Vernon
The Columbus Day holiday is prompting changes to the Vernon trash and recycling pickups.
VERNON, CT — The Vernon Public Works Department will be closed on Monday, Oct. 9, in observance of Columbus Day.
Trash and recycling will not be collected on that day but instead will be collected on Tuesday Oct. 10, along with that day's normal collections.
Excess trash and recycling can always be brought to the Vernon Transfer Station free of charge year-round on Wednesdays and Saturdays from 8 a.m. to 4 p..m and Sundays from noon to 4 p.m.

The Transfer Station will be closed on Sunday Oct. 8.
