Combatant In Custody After Assaults Near Rockville Courthouse: Cops

A Vernon man is accused of fighting with police after choking a civilian in Downtown Rockville, a report indicates.

VERNON, CT — A judge at Rockville Superior Court Tuesday kept a six-figure bond on a Vernon man accused of first beating up a woman and then scuffling with police officers the day before in plain view of the courthouse.

Jakhi Armando Hunt, 20 is facing charges that include third-degree strangulation, interfering with police, assault on a pubic safety officer, second-degree breach of peace and third-degree assault, judicial system records show. His initial $250,000 bond was reduced to $100,000, but Hunt failed to post it and remained in custody Wednesday.

At 1:30 p.m. Monday, Vernon police received a call about a man in a sleeveless white T-shirt assaulting a woman outside 20 East Main St., according to an arrest report. The incident moved up to Central Park across from town hall and then to Park Street near the courthouse, according to an arrest report.

That is where police caught up with Hunt, who tried to spit on officers and then fought with them as they took him into custody, according to an arrest report. One officer was kicked in the shins several times as Hunt squirmed to break loose, according to an arrest report. Another officer suffered a "deep laceration" to a knee and a third sustained cuts to both legs, according to an arrest report.

The woman had marks on her neck that were consistent with a choking incident, according to an arrest report.
