Cops Investigating Armed Robbery At Gas Station In Vernon

A hold-up in Vernon Thursday seems to be part of a larger crime spree, police said.

VERNON, CT — A gas station on Route 83 in Vernon was held up Thursday in what seems to be part of a larger spree, police said.

At 10:01 p.m. Thursday, Vernon police responded to a report of an armed robbery at the Valero station, 506 Talcottville Road.

Bandits entered the store, displayed a handgun and stole money and cigarettes, according to an incident report. The thieves fled the premises prior to officers arriving, according to an incident report. Several cruisers could be seen heading to the scene from Vernon center.

The getaway car was later located in Newington, police said.

No injuries were reported.

Similar incidents were reported in Meriden and Berlin after the Vernon incident, police said.
