Cops Looking For Van-Driving Bandit Who Held Up Vernon Sandwich Shop

VERNON, CT — Vernon police Wednesday were investigating a robbery reported in the area of Hartford Turnpike near the Manchester line.

The focus of the investigation was the Subway at 53 Hartford Turnpike. The robbery took place at about 3:30 p.m. and a firearm was implied, police said.

Police said they were looking for a "single suspect" who held up the sandwich shop. He is being described as an "larger adult male" wearing wearing tan pants, a blue sweatshirt, a blue surgical mask, and gloves.

The man took an undermined amount of money and jumped into what surveillance images clearly showed to be a gray Toyota mini van with no front plate, police said. He then fled the scene in the van toward Manchester, police said.

No injuries were reported.
