Cornerstone Spearheading Holiday Decorating Contest In Vernon

VERNON, CT — Cornerstone is hosting this year's Vernon holiday decorating contest.

The annual event started in 2001 and was initially a way to showcase Rockville, Vernon's "Victorian Village" and has since expanded to the entire town. Cornerstone is spearheading the event "as a way to share the tradition of the community."

There are 5 categories for both business and residential displays:

• Overall Best Display
• Best Commercial
• Best Door
• Best Theme
• Best GREEN Display

The winner for Overall Best Display will be chosen through photo voting on Cornerstone's Facebook page. All other winners will be chosen by a panel of judges. Winners will be announced on Dec. 21.

To be considered for voting, go to www.cornerstone-cares.org/holiday-decorating-contest to download the Official Entry Form, or pick one up from the Community Kitchen at 15 Prospect St. Official Entry Forms and two photos of your decorated home (day time/night time) can be returned to the Community Kitchen or emailed to alexis.carmicheal@cornerstone-cares.org.

All entries must be received no later than noon on Dec. 16.
