Couple Brawls In Vernon Police Parking Lot: Report

A man and a woman were brawling in the Vernon police parking lot, a report indicates.

VERNION, CT — Two people who drove to the Vernon Police Department separately after a domestic incident began brawling in the parking lot, according to an arrest report.

The incident was witnessed by an ambulance crew, according to a report.

The incident took place at 8:33 p.m. on Thursday. According to a report, the initial fight broke out in the parking lot of the Eastbrook Apartments at 160 East Main St.

Eugene O'Relly, 38, who lives on Lawrence Street, is accused of slapping a phone out of a woman's hands twice, resulting in a minor injury, according to a report. He and the woman then drove separately to the police station — about 3 miles away — and began fighting again in the parking area, according to a report.

The ambulance building is next door and a crew was outside at the time, police said. There was no indication in a report that anyone needed to be treated at the scene.

O'Reilly wound up with a third-degree assault charge, police said. He was to appear in Rockville Superior Court Friday, records show.
