WASHINGTON, DC — U.S. Rep. Joe Courtney (CT-02) Friday announced that he has been named to serve on the House Armed Services Committee, and the House Education and Workforce Committee in the 118th Congress. In being selected, Courtney becomes the second-highest highest-ranking member of the House Armed Services Committee and the third highest-ranking member of the House Education and Workforce Committee.

"People in eastern Connecticut want a representative in Congress who works as hard as they do, who takes the position seriously, and who delivers results for our towns. That’s always been my approach,” Courtney said. "And I'm honored to be in a position to keep supporting all the exciting growth we’re seeing in our region from the House Armed Services Committee and the Education and Workforce Committee.

"The work we produce on these Committees has a direct impact at home in eastern Connecticut—from increased submarine construction and potential new opportunities like AUKUS, to new investments in workforce development, to the authorization of critical programs that support local families, seniors, and students, and more. Already in 2023, the horizon is chock-full of opportunities and challenges, and I’m ready to get to work in bipartisan fashion to help eastern Connecticut continue to succeed."
