TOLLAND, CT — Connecticut State Police canine Drago was right after all while sniffing out a suspected drug stash at a traffic stop in Tolland, an arrest report indicates.

The stop took place at 4:20 p.m. near Exit 68 on Interstate-84 in Tolland, state police said.

Troopers pulled over a gray Infiniti after its registration plate came over the data base with a "destroyed" status, according to an arrest report.

After questioning the occupants, Drago was deployed to check the vehicle and alerted troopers to the presence of narcotics, according to an arrest report.

One of the occupants of the Infiniti told troopers, "You need a new dog ... your dog is wrong," according to an arrest report.

State police then discovered 14 grams of fentanyl and 1.5 grams of of crack cocaine in a subsequent search, according to an arrest report. The driver, identified as 24-year-old Justin Maylor, of Hartford, was charged with the sale of a narcotic substance, possession of a controlled substance (first offense) driving an unregistered vehicle, the improper use of a registration plate and driving without the minimum insurance.

He posted a $15,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in court on Aug. 30, state police said.
