A defendant in an April 2018 Vernon hammer attack has been sentenced to six years in prison, judicial system records indicate.

VERNON, CT — A defendant in an April 2018 Vernon hammer attack has been sentenced to six years in prison, judicial system records indicate.

The incident took place at 1:04 a.m. on April 29 at 208 Terrace Drive, according to an arrest report.

Gilberto Cordero, 23, of Vernon, was accused of breaking into the home with a hammer and then teaming up with two others to break the arm of an occupant with the hammer and assault several others, according to an arrest report.

Cordero was initially held on a $1 million bond. He was sentenced last Friday.

He was convicted of second-degree assault, court records show.
