Distracted Driver Hits Abandoned Car On Vernon Highway Ramp: Police
Phone use while driving did not end well for one driver in Vernon, state police said.

VERNON, CT — A distracted driver rammed into an abandoned car on a highway ramp in Vernon, state police said.
The crash took place at 1:43 p.m. Friday.
According to a state police crash report, a 2006 Kia Optima was left abandoned on the shoulder of the Interstate 84 Exit 66 westbound on-ramp. A 59-year-old Vernon woman turned her 2015 Honda Civic onto the ramp, was surprised by the parked Kia and slammed into it, according to a crash report.

She was using a phone, according to a crash report.
The woman was taken to Manchester Memorial Hospital with chest injuries and was issued an infraction ticket for driving while using a hand-held device, state police said.
