Dog Fatally Shot In Vernon
Authorities in Vernon are investigating a fatal shooting involving a dog.

VERNON, CT — Vernon police and the state Department of Energy and Environmental Protection are investigating the fatal shooting of a dog in the southern part of town.
The incident took place at property off Bolton Road and was reported Thursday, police said.
Responding officers met with the dog's owner, who reported finding it dead in a wooded area, according to a report. It appears the dog was accidentally shot by a someone hunting on his property who thought it was a coyote, police said.

Police said no charges have been filed.
The case, nevertheless, is still being investigated by Vernon Police and the DEEP.
