Driver Arrested For DUI After 'Joining' Traffic Stop In Vernon: Cops

VERNON, CT — A 28-year-old New Hampshire man was to appear in Rockville Superior Court Monday for a strange drunken driving case out of Vernon.

Police released a report on the case to begin the week.

At 1:39 a.m. on April 20, Vernon police had a vehicle pulled over at the intersection of Dart Hill and Skinner roads, according to an arrest report. An unrelated vehicle then pulled up behind the police cruisers and parked in the road, according to an arrest report.

As officers approached the driver, he showed signs of impairment and then refused to take sobriety tests, according to an arrest report.

Police said he was subsequently arrested and charged with improper parking and driving under the influence.
