Driver Clocked At 96 MPH In Vernon, Tussles With Troopers In Tolland
A traffic stop turned into a wrestling match between a driver and state police.

VERNON/TOLLAND, CT — A police pursuit that began on Interstate 84 in Vernon and ended at the Fieldstone Commons shopping plaza in Tolland has left the driver with several charges, state police said.
A 21-year-old from Southington, was charged with reckless driving, driving under the influence, interfering with police, and a lane violation, state police said.
At 1:06 a.m. on Nov. 22, state police were conducting a traffic enforcement detail on the eastbound side of I-84 and noticed a vehicle go by at a high rate of speed, according to an arrest report. The vehicle was clocked at 96 MPH and the driver refused to stop for a trooper, according to an arrest report.

State police finally caught up to it near the Big Y supermarket at Fieldstone Commons shopping plaza off Exit 68 in Tolland, according to an arrest report.
The driver failed to cooperate with troopers and had to be removed from his vehicle, according to an arrest report. He also refused to be fingerprinted in another tussle with troopers after being transferred t the Troop C barracks for processing, state police said.
