Driver Fires at Car During I-84 Road Rage in Vernon: State Police

A man is facing gun charges after a road rage incident on I-84 in Vernon, state police said.

VERNON, CT – A Pennsylvania man was arrested on nine charges after he allegedly shot a gun during a road range incident on Interstate-84 in Vernon, state police said.

At 1:20 a.m. Wednesday, the state police Troop C barracks received reports that a road rage incident involving a firearm had taken place on the highway, according to an arrest report. The suspect vehicle, driven by 40-year-old Carlos Tejeda of Wilkes Barre, PA, was located near exit 56 in East Hartford, state police said.

Troopers determined he had shot a gun out the window of his car toward another vehicle, according to an arrest report.

  • Illegally possessing a weapon on a motor vehicle
  • Carrying a pistol without a permit
  • Reckless driving

He was held overnight on a $100,000 bond, which was upheld in a Wednesday court appearance, judicial records indicate. He remained in custody Thursday on that bond with another court appearance slated for June 4, records show.
