Driver Using Glowing Phone Crashes Near Vernon Cop, Fails DUI Test
A driving using a phone hit a curb, then failed a drunk test, police said.

VERNON, CT — A driver on a nighttime jaunt in Vernon passed a cop with a glowing phone on his ear and then failed a sobriety test after being pulled over, an arrest report indicates.
Vernon police released details of the Oct. 7 escapade on Monday.
At 9:25 that night, a 62-year-old Vernon man was trying to negotiate a turn at the Talcottville Road bottleneck in front of the Woodmere Place condominium complex while holding a glowing phone up to his ear — right in front of an officer — according to an arrest report.

The officer managed to pull him over after the man's 2000 Chevrolet Silverado hit a curb and he subsequently failed a sobriety test.
