Drone Crashes In Vernon Yard, Gun Charge Follows

A drone landed in a Vernon yard and a gun charge landed on a resident, police said.

VERNON, CT — One Vernon resident confronted a neighbor with a gun tucked in his pants after an amateur drone crash in a Union street yard, police said.

Police released deatails of the June 19 incident Monday.

That day, a Union Street resident was flying a drone and the drone crashed into a neighboring yard, according to a report. The pilot went to retrieve it, but was confronted by a neighbor. The pilot told police the man, identified as 37-year-old Bruce Robbins, was armed at the time.

Police went to the property and discoverd that Robbins had a loaded Smith & Wesson .40- cal. handgun tucked in the waistband of his pants. Robbins had a valid permit for the pistol, but was intoxidated, according to a report. He was subsequently charged with illegally carrying a firearm under the influence of alcohol or drugs.

He is due in court on Aug. 6, according to a report.
