VERNON, CT — A drunken scooter driver ran a red light and crashed in Vernon last week, police said.

The 63-year-old was charged with driving under the influence, police said.

A report released Monday, shows the crash occurred at 3:40 p.m. on Oct. 19 in the area of Union and Elm streets. A blue scooter ran a red light and was hit by another vehicle, according to a report.

The driver of the scooter failed field sobriety tests and was taken into custody, according to a report. He was charged with failure to obey a traffic signal in addition to the drunken driving charge, police said.

No serious injuries were reported.
