Students will be dismissed early from local schools today.
Superintendent of Schools Mary Conway delivered the following e-mail and phone alerts this morning:
"In anticipation of snow this afternoon, Wednesday, Feb. 29, 2012, the Vernon Public Schools will dismiss students according to the established early release schedule. I repeat, schools today, Feb, 29, will be closing early according to the established schedule for your school."
That means no afternoon kindergsrten classes.
AOL Weather is predicting that snow will be developing later today and that 1 to 3 inches could fall in three afternoon.
Snow, possibly changing over to sleet or freezing rain, should continue into Thursday, according to AOL Weather.
