Early Leaf Collections In Vernon To Help With Foul Weather Road Prep
Vernon DPW crews Tuesday were prepping for winter weather operations.

VERNON, CT — Leaves fell from their trees a little early in Vernon this year and that has made preparation for winter road treatment a little less worrisome for Department of Public Works staffers, Vernon officials said.
Take Tuesday for example. There was a flurry of activity at the DPW garage. Vernon Public Works Equipment Operator Colton Garrison was loading plow trucks with road treatment and then trucks went into a garage for possible use with freezing or snowy precipitation possible Tuesday night into Wednesday.
"Vernon Public Works crews are in the midst of fall leaf collection and are making good progress because leaves fell a bit earlier this year," officials said. "We are always ready to respond to inclement weather, or any other situation, to keep our roads and residents safe."
