We successfully restored the state’s Rental Rebate Program. Qualified elderly and disabled residents should apply as soon as possible. The program has been restored and was fully funded in the recently passed state budget.
Connecticut provides rental rebate assistance for low income renters who are elderly or disabled. Rebates can be up to $900 for married couples or $700 for single persons. The rebate amount is based on a graduated income scale and the amount of rent and qualified utility payments made in the year prior to the calendar year in which the renter applies.
The program was fixed to work as originally intended and I urge those who have participated in the past as well as new entrants who may quality to file the current year's application as soon as possible. The application period began April 1st and will run through October 1, 2014.
