Extended Parking Ban, Trash Schedule Change Imposed In Vernon ... Schools Closed For 2nd Day
The latest snowstorm is certainly having an effect in Vernon.

VERNON, CT — Vernon residents woke up to a blanket of snow on the ground Monday morning with more to come into the afternoon.
Schools were declared closed for Monday at noontime Sunday. Late Monday afternoon, they were closed for Tuesday.
An extended parking ban has been imposed or all public streets until 8 a.m. Tuesday. Violators are subject to being ticketed and/or towed, police said.

The Cornerstone Community Kitchen was closed for lunch Monday.
Trash and recycling collections were called off for Monday. It will be double collections on Tuesday, town officials said. Town Hall was offering limited services.

Fire officials were reminding residents that, when shoveling, to include hydrants.
"The significant snowfall will quickly obscure fire hydrants," fire officials said. "If you have a hydrant on your property ensure that snow is cleared around it at least 3 feet in all directions."
