Felony Charge Levied On Texas Man After Vernon Cops Thwart Car Theft

VERNON, CT — Vernon police last week broke up an attempted car theft at an apartment complex just off Route 83 and a Texas man is due in court Tuesday to answer a felony charge as a result, records show.

The attempted theft took place at 4:13 in the morning on Aug. 3 at the Willowbrook apartment complex at 335 Center Road. Officers were alerted to the theft attempt by a call and when they arrived at the property — which is about a mile away from the police station — they interrupted the would-be thief, according to an arrest report.

Taken into custody was 30-year-old Houston resident Christopher Harris, according to an arrest report. He was charged with felony conspiracy and third-degree larceny, records show.

He was given the Tuesday court date after posting a $20,000 bond, records show.
