Firefighter Hurt Battling Vernon House Blaze: Update
A fire broke out at a multi-floor home in Vernon on Sunday.
VERNON, CT — A firefighter was hurt battling a blaze at a multi-family home in the Rockville section of Vernon on Sunday evening, authorities said.
The fire at 92 Talcott Ave. was initially reported at about 5 p.m. and, when firefighters arrived, flames could be seen from the third floor, according to authorities.
Several units from Vernon and neighboring towns responded. A tolland crew backed up Vernon for local calls.

One firefighter suffered what a public safety spokesman termed minor burns. The firefighter was taken to an area hospital and was released after treatment, he added.
Talcott Avenue was closed for some time, as was Union Street between Bailey Lane and Orchard Street.

According to the American Red Cross, three families — totaling five adults and two children — were displaced.
The lcoal fire marshal and Vernon police detectives were expected to be at the scene investigating for a good portion of the day.
