Fire Chars Units At Vernon Apartment Complex

For the second straight Monday, Vernon firefighters had to contend with an intense blaze.

VERNON, CT — For the second straight Monday, firefighters in Vernon and several surrounding towns had to contend with an intense morning incident.

This week, it was at the Countrywood apartment complex on the 600 block of Talvottville Road. A fire broke out inside one of the units and left at least two charred.

No injuries were reported.

Ladder trucks were positioned both in front of the burning units and off to the side of the cluster of units, set toward the rear of the property.

One lane of Talcottville Road was closed in the immediate vicinity, but traffic was flowing smoothly. Vernon had several trucks at the scene and firefighters from Tolland, Manchester, South Windsor and Ellington were among the towns lending support.
