Fire Damages Pair Of Homes In Vernon
A fire over the weekend in Vernon affected two homes, officials said.

VERNON, CT — The cause of a fire that damaged two homes on Gove Street in Vernon over the weekend remained under investigation Monday, fire marshal Dan Wasilewski said.
The fire broke out at 4:56 p.m. Saturday at 62 Grove St. Wasilewski said it originated in a garage and then spread to the rear of the house.
The home, which seems to have been built around 1900 though records from the period are sketchy, suffered moderate damage, he said. It was deemed uninhabitable, Wasilewski said. No one was home at the time, and no injuries were reported.
