Fire Leaves Garage In Ruins, 2 Displaced From Home In Vernon
A fire broke out early Monday morning at a home in Vernon.

VERNON, CT — A fire ravaged a garage and then spread to a connected home in Vernon early Monday morning.
Investigators were still examining the charred remains as Monday progressed to determine a cause.
Two people were in the home and were able to escape, officials said. A cat was not so lucky and was found in the home deceased, according to an incident report.

The fire broke out at 3:20 a.m. at 56 Rainbow Trail. It began in the garage and spread to the home, according to an incident report.
Part of the frame was all that was left of the garage — along with two partially melted cars and some household items — and the home itself was deemed uninhabitable, authorities said.
