Flying Mattress Causes Unrest On I-84 In Vernon
A mattress came loose from a vehicle on a stretch of highway in Vernon and havoc ensued, state police said.

VERNON, CT — A mattress flying out of a pickup truck was the cause of a rear-end collision on a stretch of highway on Vernon, state police said.
State police released the details of the Oct. 24 crash this week.
At 3:55 p.m. that day, a 2021 Chevrolet Silverado was carrying a bed mattress on the eastbound side of Interstate 84 near Exit 67, according to a crash report. The mattress was not secured and flew into the air and landed on the center median, according t0 a crash report.

The driver of the Silverado, a 39-year-old Ashford man, stopped on the left shoulder and the vehicle was then rear-ended by another vehicle driven by a 17-year-old Northford girl, according to a crash report.
No injuries were reports and the driver of the Silverado was cited for driving with an unsecured load and the second driver was issued a verbal warning for following too closely, state police said.
