Free Fraud Protection Lunch & Learn on April 30

Who isn't scared of making an innocent mistake that can mushroom into a huge problem?

The Tolland County Chamber of Commerce is organizing a free Fraud Protection Lunch & Learn on Thursday, April 30 from 12 noon to 1 pm hosted at the KEEP IN TOUCH Business Training Center, 30 Lafayette Square, Suite 118 (2nd floor) in Vernon. KEEP IN TOUCH is located upstairs from the Tolland County Chamber of Commerce office. A light lunch will be provided.

Advance registration is recommended, since participation is limited to 20 people. In addition to viewing the presentation on the large meeting room monitor, attendees are also advised to bring their laptops, tablets or smartphones. The facility has free WiFi access. There will be time for interactive Q&A.

The Fraud Protection Lunch & Learn is sponsored by M&T Bank and will feature online presenter Amy Perry, M&T Bank Senior Vice President of Fraud Training and Education. She has 17 years of experience at M&T Bank, a degree in psychology, and a passion for increasing fraud awareness and preventing victimization.

With fraud on the rise, Perry will educate attendees on identifying, protecting, and taking action against common fraud tactics. Topics will include: The overall fraud landscape; Fraud as a Service (FaaS) and basic internet security hygiene; U.S. Postal Service mail theft, primarily check fraud; social engineering fraud such as email or text phishing and smishing; phone call vishing and spoofing; SEO poisoning; business email compromise; deepfakes and AI; account takeovers; scams; best practices and behavior tips.
