Free Ice Skating Introduced At Vernon's Henry Park
The town of Vernon will be offering free ice skating at Henry Park at a new rink.
VERNON, CT — Free skating is to start at Henry Park in Vernon.
Ice skating will be available at Henry Park this Sunday and other days, weather and ice conditions permitting.
Mayor Daniel Champagne and the Town Council authorized the purchase of a new seasonal outdoor ice rink that was installed on the Henry Park tennis courts in December. This weekend is the first time the weather has been cold enough to make skating possible.

"We are pleased to offer another free winter activity for Vernon families to enjoy," Mayor Champagne said.
Skating will be scheduled for 8 a.m. to 10 p.m., when conditions allow.

The rink is located on the tennis courts, which are lighted, and will enable people to skate into the evening hours.
