Fresh Monkee Chain Continues National Push With Vernon Opening

VERNON, CT — The Fresh Monkee, a shop that features "truly health protein shakes," has opened in Vernon.

The Fresh Monkee is located at 425 Talcottville Road in a plaza anchored by Planet Fitness at the Merline Road intersection.

The opening represents a step by the chain's "bold mission to go national."

"We’re here to revolutionize the way people perceive and enjoy healthy shakes, by offering a genuine, unpretentious food that is delicious, fun, and caters to every taste and lifestyle," the chain's motto says.

More than 25 protein shakes are on the menu, including the Banana Split (milk, vanilla protein, unsweetened coconut shreds, banana, pineapple and strawberries), the Blueberry Pie (milk, vanilla protein, low-fat graham crackers, spices, vanilla extract and blueberries) and the chocolate-based Chunkee Monkee, Dirty Monkee, Filthy Monkee and Dirty Filthy Monkee.

There's also the Puppy Shake ("for the dogs") with water, pumpkin puree, natural peanut butter and banana.

Protein iced coffee, "mass shakes" and "green shakes" are also featured.

Vegan and gluten-free options are available.
