UPDATE: Friends, School Officials and Neighbors Rallying to Assist Those Displaced in Vernon House Explosion

BREAKING: A Go Fund Me account has been set up to assist the family members rescued after being trapped inside the home.

VERNON, CT — Friends and neighbors of those displaced in a house explosion on East Street are rallying to offset to raise money to assist them.

One of the victims has been identified in a Go Fund Me account highlighted on the Northeast School Facebook page called, "Help Nicole Kerstetter Rebuild."

As of 1:30 p.m. Friday, $2,875 had been raised to assist the family.

A pair of pledges of $500 and a pledge of $200 are included.

"We all need to help her at this tragic time," the Go Fund Me posting states. "Please help in any way possible even by sharing this she just lost everything. She made it out with all her kids God heard all of our prayers. School is coming up and now she has nothing not even a home. Please help in any way she is the sweetest kindest person who would help all of us if needed now is the time to come together."

Vernon public school administrators said they are collecting donations for the victims from anyone wishing to donate.

Donations so far have included clothing, cash and gift cards, police said. Donations can be dropped off during business hours in the main office of the schools. Several of the victims were students in the local school system.
