Garage Door Opener Used In Vernon Motorcycle Theft: Cops

A stolen garage door opener was used to eventually steal a motorcycle in Vernon, police said.

VERNON, CT — A garage door opener was taken out of an unlocked vehicle and eventually used steal a motorcycle at a Vernon residence, police said.

It was one of 10 incidents during the overnight hours between Election Day and Wednesday, police said.

The garage door opener was taken out of an unlocked vehicle on Chelsea Ridge in Vernon, police said. The thief used it to open a garage and take a Honda CBR 250 R motorcycle, according to a report.

Nine other incidents were reported along the Tunnel Road corridor involving burglaries in unlocked cars, police said.

Police reiterated a directive that residents lock their cars and at least hide valuables if not bring them inside.
