Gas Leak Interrupts Business At Vernon Plaza
A gas leak forced the evacuation of several businesses off Route 30 in Vernon on Thursday.

VERNON, CT — A gas leak forced the evacuation of several businesses off Route 30 in Vernon on Thursday, police said.
The leak was discovered at 9:53 a.m. at the Wang's Buffet space in the KMart plaza, 295 Hartford Turnpike, police said.
Responders found the space "full of gas" and evacuated adjacent businesses as a precaution, police said. Crews from the Vernon Fire Department and Eversource energy were able to stop the gas leak and ventilate the building and businesses were evacuated for less than an hour, according to police.
