Girl Scout Group Mobilizing To Clean Up Litter In Vernon
Girl Scouts in Vernon are spearheading efforts to clean up litter in town this weekend.

VERNON, CT — Girl Scouts in Vernon are spearheading efforts to clean up litter in town this weekend.
The scouts are scheduled to gather at 9 a.m. at Strong Farm at 274 West Street and are inviting members of the community to join them. Some gloves, water and trash bags will be available for those who don't have any.
"Come by yourself, with a friend or with a group. Everyone's help is appreciated. Let's clean up Vernon," Scout leaders said.

The plan is to "go out around Vernon" and pick up litter along streets, in parking lots, in neighborhoods and at local parks.
The plan is to meet back at the farm at noon to collect bags of trash and take a group photo.

The Scouts are mobilizing as the town continues to send out pleas to keep local parks clean. Since about a week before Memorial Day, parks have been left a mess on several occasions.
