Goose Shot With Arrow in Vernon Rescued
A goose shot with an arrow in Vernon was rescued and is recovering, officials said.

VERNON, CT — A goose shot by a crossbow was rescued from the Hockanum River corridor last week and is doing well in a wildlife rehabilitation hospital, police and Vernon officials said.
The incident took place Thursday, officials said. Police were called about a goose with an arrow stuck in it and a missing foot, officials said.
Vernon Animal Control Officer Jerry Casida, with fire department officials standing by, was able the get into a canoe in the river just west of the water treatment plant and pull the goose to safety, officials said.

The goose was sent to Bolton Veterinary Hospital's rehab facility, where it was doing well, officials said.
It appears the goose was stuck by a wayward legal arrow from a hunter, police said.
