I was pleased to join Governor Dannel Malloy in announcing state funds to assist in the cleanup and reuse of the old Hockanum Mill site on West Main Street in Rockville. The former Mill will house commercial and light industrial uses. This is a very historic property in the heart of Rockville and the funding is a great plus for our community. It will allow the Hockanum Mill to become a thriving workplace once again and I applaud Kaplan Mill Works for taking on this awesome task. Kaplan Mill Works, LLC, will receive a $2,000,000 low interest loan for the remediation and reuse of the Hockanum Mill in Rockville. They Plan to clean up and renovate the property for reuse as a Tech Center and home to other small businesses. The funding is part of the state’s efforts to cleanup and re-use old, abandoned industrial sites, provide jobs and spur economic development in local communities.
