Hour By Hour: On Our Way To 90 Degrees In Vernon
Besides the heat and humidity, we'll also be dealing with a chance of severe weather later this afternoon.

The National Weather Service has issued a “Hazardous Weather Outlook” for the chance of severe weather in Hartford and Tolland counties.
But in its latest advisory, the NWS writes there is only a “low risk for an isolated strong thunderstorm” this afternoon and early evening.
Likely, the biggest issue today, will be dealing with the area’s first official heat wave of the season.

By early afternoon temps are expected to reach 90 degrees, according to the National Weather Service. It will be a bit cooler on Friday with temps in the upper 80s, and for the next few days, temps will be in the low to mid 80s.

Today: A slight chance of showers and thunderstorms after 2pm. Mostly sunny, with a high near 90. West wind 10 to 13 mph, with gusts as high as 25 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20%.
Tonight: Partly cloudy, with a low around 61. Northwest wind 5 to 7 mph becoming calm after midnight.
Friday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 86. Calm wind becoming south 5 to 8 mph in the morning.
Friday Night: A chance of showers and thunderstorms, mainly after midnight. Patchy fog after 4am. Otherwise, mostly cloudy, with a low around 66. South wind around 6 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30%.
Saturday: A chance of showers and thunderstorms, mainly before 4pm. Patchy fog before 8am. Otherwise, mostly cloudy, with a high near 82. Light and variable wind becoming west around 5 mph in the afternoon. Chance of precipitation is 50%.
Saturday Night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 58.
Sunday: Sunny, with a high near 81.
