Image Gallery: Vernon National Night Out 2023

VERNON, CT — About a thousand locals converged on Downtown Rockville Tuesday for the 2023 edition of National Nigh Out in Vernon.

National Night Out takes place each year on the first Tuesday in August. Locally, it's a team effort by the Vernon Community Network, the Vernon Police Department and the Rockville Downtown Association.

The premise is to bring the community together for a night in a healthy, safe manner in the hope of improving neighborhood relationships.

Freed food was served and many area social service agencies, churches, service-oriented businesses and volunteer groups were on hand to interact with community members. National Night Out takes place in communities throughout the United States.

About 1,500 hot dogs were served, along with chips, drinks and ice cream.
