VERNON, CT — Vernon Animal Control is now caring for four abandoned dogs, all from the past week or so.

The latest was found Sunday tied to a post along the Risley Reservoir trail. The collar states that the dog's name is Jade, whose birth month is May 2022. Animal control officials released an image of the canine:

On Sept 27, a small dog was found abandoned In The Ward Street Area of Rockville. The dog was OK, but very matted, animal control officials said. An East Hartford Animal Clinic staff member offered free grooming for the dog on social media.

Also on Sept. 27, two small dogs were being cared for by Vernon Animal Control Wednesday after being located abandoned in the Rockville section of town the previous day, officials said.

The two canines were found — in a crate — along the River Street corridor, officials said.
