That was about five years after the "new" United Bank was formed by a merger of Connecticut-based Rockville Bank and Massachusetts-based United Bank.

The Downtown Rockville branch was closed in February. The building is across Park Street from Rockville Superior Court on one side and the Vernon public school system central office complex on the other. The closing left school and judcial employees, as well as court attendees and those in the area with limited transportation, with no bank within walking distance.
