Lane Violation on I-84 in Willington Leads to Narcotics Bust

A motorist was caught on Interstate-84 with about 200 pills he had illegally, state police said.

WILLINGTON, CT — A 54-year-old Maine man was caught on Interstate-84 with about 200 pills he had illegally and was arrested on a dozen drug charges Sunday, state police said.

Joel Reilly, of South Bristol, Maine, was pulled over at 5:18 p.m. after a trooper noticed an abnormal lane change, according to a report. He was heading east in a Jeep Cherokee just past Exit 69 and, after stopping him, a trooper noticed a rolled-up dollar bill that appeared to contain narcotic residue in the center console, according to a report.

Reilly consented to a search and troopers discovered 140 Oxycodone pills, 25 Vicoden pills, several anti-depressants, and a small amount of marijuana, according to a report. He told troopers he purchased the Oxy pills "for a friend," in Tennessee, according to a report.

He was charged with failing to renew a license and a lane violation for the initial stop, according to a report.

He was also charged with five counts of possession of a controlled substance, four counts of failing to keep narcotics in their original containers, two counts of the sale of narcotics and a single count of possessing drug paraphernalia, a report indicates.

His bond was set at $50,000, according to a report.
