Legion's Santa Breakfast A Major Veterans Fundraiser In Vernon
Saturday's Breakfast with Santa at the Vernon American Legion Post 14 serves not only the kids, but the vets in terms of raising funds.

VERNON, CT — A holiday tradition that happens to be one of the most important veterans fundraisers of the year is on tap for Saturday at the Vernon American Legion Post 14 — breakfast with Santa.
Proceeds go toward gifts, food baskets for needy vets and the annual Veterans Christmas Day party.
Santa is scheduled to arrive at the post at 114 West St. by 9 a.m. and a full breakfast of pancakes, sausages, doughnuts and juice will be served from 8 to 11 a.m. Family activities like holiday cards for veterans, shopping and pictures with Santa are slated for 9 to 3 p.m.

Tickets are $7 for adults and $5 for children.
"For so many vets, this is the best Christmas possible and this is how we raise funds for that," said Heather Latrise, an assistant manager at the post.

Donations can also be made for this who cannot attend the breakfast, she said.
The Legion is also hosting a holiday party for the pubic Saturday night at 7. It's the post annual open house.
