There once was a Son from afar,
Whose birth was foretold by a star.
From heaven He came,
To the poor and lame,
And to those whose hearts are ajar.
Mary was told to prepare,
For the child she would soon share.
That child would grow,
But how could she know,
The sins of the world He would bear.
The angels foretold of His birth,
Yet He came and inherited dearth.
We're called to believe,
To simply receive,
The One of most excellent worth.
Shepherds were minding their sheep,
Much better than Little Bo Peep.
When up in the air,
Angels everywhere,
Pointed to the Savior asleep.
When the Son of God left His throne,
To come to this world unknown,
He released it all,
To reverse the Fall,
The sins of the world to atone.
