Loaded 'Mini' AK-47 Seized After Fracas At Vernon Strip Club: Police
A Bloomfield man is being held on a half-million-dollar bond after an altercation with a high-capacity weapon in Vernon, reports show.

VERNON, CT — A patron of a strip club in Vernon is facing more than a dozen criminal charges and is accused of threatening the place with an elaborate weapon after being cut off from the bar, police said.
Vernon police this week released details of the Sept. 15 incident at Lucky's on Route 83.
At 12:24 a.m., an altercation broke out when 26-year-old Bloomfield resident Jamoi Hampton was told he was too drunk to order any more drinks, according to an arrest report. After receiving the news, Hampton assaulted staff members and made several references to having a gun, including an AK-47 assault weapon, in his vehicle, according to an arrest report.

Hampton fled in a 2015 Infiniti Q70 sedan on Route 83, but crashed about 2 miles west in the Planet Fitness parking lot, according to an arrest report. When officers caught up with him at the crash scene, Hampton was hiding in the back seat, but then fled on foot, according to an arrest report.
He was quickly chased down and a subsequent search of the vehicle produced a "fully loaded" Draco "mini" AK-47 gun with a "high-capacity magazine," according to an arrest report. One round was in the chamber and another 14 in the clip, according to an arrest report.

Two empty shell casings and a bag with 22 more rounds were also located in the car, according to an arrest report.
Hampton's initial bond of $150,000 was upped to $500,000 at his arraignment at Rockville Superior Court, and he remained in custody on that amount on Thursday, judicial system records show. He is due back in court on Oct 20.
In all, Hampton has been charged with:
- Illegal possession of a weapon in a motor vehicle
- Illegal possession of a large=capacity magazine
- Illegal possession of an assault weapon
- Illegally carrying a firearm while under the influence
- Criminal possession of a firearm
- Third-degree assault
- Second-degree criminal mischief
- Reckless driving
- Drunken driving
- A lane violation
- Disobeying the signal of an officer
- Interfering with police
- Evading responsibility
- Second-degree breach of peace
