Local Funeral Directors Re-Elected to Board of the Connecticut Funeral Directors Assn.

CARMON & TESKE RE-ELECTED TO BOARD OF CONNECTICUT FUNERAL DIRECTORS ASSOCIATION

Local funeral directors John C. "Jay" Carmon, Jr., CPC, and Jacqueline L. Teske both have been re-elected to the Executive Committee of the Connecticut Funeral Directors Association (CFDA).

Carmon, a licensed funeral director/embalmer with Carmon Community Funeral Homes, is now serving his fourth term on CFDA’s governing body. Based in Windsor, Conn., his family-run funeral firm has nine locations in North Central Connecticut: Avon; Granby; Hartford; Rockville; South Windsor; Suffield; Vernon; and Windsor (2 locations), and its own on-site Mt. Laurel Crematory. The first funeral home was founded by his grandfather, Frank W. Carmon, Jr. in 1946.

Carmon became a funeral director/embalmer in 2007 after receiving his professional schooling at the New England Institute of Mortuary Science at Mount Ida College in Dedham, Mass. The lifelong Windsor resident lives with his wife, Christina, and their three children. A former member of the Poquonock Volunteer Fire Company, Carmon is a past Board member of the Windsor Exchange Club, was the 2010-2012 President of Windsor's First Town Downtown, and a Planning Committee member of Windsor's 375th Anniversary Celebration.

Stafford Springs resident Teske is beginning her second term on CFDA’s Executive Committee. She is a licensed funeral director/embalmer at Pietras Family Funeral Homes, which has locations in Rockville, Coventry, Tolland and East Windsor, Conn.

Teske joined Pietras Family Funeral Homes in 2005 and completed her apprenticeship there in October 2009. She became a funeral director/embalmer in 2008 after receiving her professional schooling from Briarwood College of Mortuary Science (now Lincoln College of New England) in Southington, Conn. Teske lives in Stafford Springs, Conn. with her husband, Donald, and two children, where she volunteers for community projects. She is a member of the Rockville Fish and Game Club. A native of Enfield, Conn., she is a parishioner of Holy Family Parish in Enfield.

The Connecticut Funeral Directors Association (CFDA) is comprised of funeral directors at more than 220 funeral homes. The 2017 Officers and Executive Committee elections were held during the association’s 128th Annual Convention in December. Founded in 1889, the Wethersfield-based association is committed to the promotion and advocacy of high ethical standards in funeral service. This includes the development and presentation of ongoing professional training opportunities for practitioners and educational programs for association members and the public.
