VERNON, CT — Two wooded parcels of land across from Vernon Center Middle School that have sat vacant for years have been put on the real estate market.

One parcel sits at 256 West St. and measures 1.15 acres. Its price tag is $89,000.

The other, officially unaddressed, is next to it at 1.97 acres. It is listed for $98,000.

Both parcels are heavily wooded and have served as a buffer for the owners, who live on adjacent Peterson Road. Listing agent Brenda Bourne of KW Legacy Partners, said they simply don't want to hold onto the land any longer.

"They're ready to let it go," Bourne said.

The land sits in a residential zone, she said.

Some offers have already come in, Bourne said. In addition to the middle school, the protected Strong family Farm, the Vernon ambulance building and the Vernon Police Department are neighbors.
