Man With 13 Convictions Arrested 2 Times In 2 Weeks In Vernon
A man with multiple convictions has now been arrested twice in about two weeks in Vernon, police said.

VERNON,CT — A man with a baker's dozen worth of trespassing and larceny convictions in recent history has now been arrested twice in Vernon over a period of about two weeks for second-degree criminal treespass, according to police reports.
Casey Speers, 48, who police said has no certain address but hangs around Vernon,was arrested on Nov. 2 on a warrant while appearing in court for an Oct. 17 arrest, police said.
He is due back in court for both cases on Nov. 14, according to court records. He is being held on bonds totaling $3,000.

The Oct. 17 arrest centered around Speers allegedly squatting at a Vernon tenement infamous for a fire about seven years ago.
Police said he had been squatting there for some time, a contention supported by neighbors.

Neighbors have also complained over the years about the building being partially renovated after a fire about seven years ago, despite new ownership. It contains several apartments.
Speers has been convicted 13 times since 2011, mostly for larceny and trespassing violations, and his sentences have ranged from a six-months of jail time suspended after two days to 10 months (on several occasions), according to judicial system records.
